Chickens ate citrus fertilizer, r eggs ok?

My chickens found and ate approximately a small handful of fertilizer (granule kind used for citrus and avacado trees). Has anybody had this happen? If so are the eggs bad to eat and for how long?

I'd be more worried about whether the chicken was okay, personally. I'm not familiar with that fertilizer since I don't live where we can grow citrus trees anyway.

You can look up the MSDS (material safety data sheet) on it or a similar brand to see if it is safe for humans. If it is, it should not be toxic to chickens either. if it is not human toxic, the eggs will be fine.

thank you for your replies, appreciate the website. And yes was worried about the chickens, but they are fine and laying twice the eggs, got 11 eggs today out of 6 chickens.

I had the same problem just today. But thank goodness that fertilizer isnt toxic!!!!!!!
