Chickens can climb a fence?

I just watched one of my Wellies use her feet and beak to climb the 5 ft fence, flapping her wings all the way to the top.

You could tell once she got to the top there was a "oh crap now what" moment!

I had no idea chickens could climb like that.
 
Yep, I let my chickens "free range" in the fenced yard. Once, I saw one of my Leghorns climb to the top of the 6 foot run...just like that...toes, beak, and flapping wings. Silly Chickens! Now they usually just fly to the top of the run (from the yard, when they're not INSIDE the run). They stay inside the fenced yard though...I only saw one get outside the fence once. I guess they feel safe inside the yard.
 
I was also suprised when I saw my barred rock do the same thing except in the coop so she had to stop at the top. It looks a bit hard but once you think about it, it really isn't all that hard.
