Chickens eating their own eggs. How do I stop this?

I let my 16 chickens out in the morning, during the day they laid eggs in the coop (rather than in the nesting box as usual) cracked them open, and ate them. One of the eggs I found had no shell. Was it a calcium deficiency? Please comment

How old are the birds? Do you provide oyster shells on the side? What do you feed? Putting ceramic eggs or golf balls 'can' prevent egg eating, but it sounds like your birds have gotten used to it, due to soft eggs. Golf balls in the nesting box can attract them to lay though and wouldn't hurt. If they aren't using the nesting boxes, you may want to make it more 'attractable'. I like to pile hay or straw in the nesting boxes for example.
