chicken's eye lid is black and bleeding!

I went out to the coop and noticed that Sally's left eye lid had some black stuff on it. some came off when I wiped it, but it started to bleed a little.

any ideas?

Could you post a photo? It sounds like it could have been a scab (probably from picking--chickens, even if they get along most of the time, will injure eachother from time to time) that just got scratched off.

YAHOOOOO!!! It looks just like the peck wounds. glad it's not fowl pox! what do you advise for the pecking problem and the wound?

Watch it since it is on the eye--most of my rooster's peck wounds on his comb healed in about 3 weeks. Glad to hear it's not pox.
