Chickens Face Backwards while on my Shoulder

Title says it all. Recently, I've been getting my chickens calmer around me by putting them on my shoulder. They always respond by turning to face behind me. This has happened with three different chickens. Any ideas why?

They want to poop in your shirt pocket

Chickens on the shoulder is not a good idea, IMO.
Just holding them can help with the 'calming'...
...allowing them to perch on your body won't be so cute when they get bigger.
