Well, DH finally got tired of the brown grass, plants dying from lack of leaves and holes in the yard. So, we agreed to put a 4 ft. fence across the back of the yard to create a chicken area. They have an over 60x10 ft area to free range, plus their covered 10x12 ft run and coop. Should be plenty of room for 16 hens. Anyone else ever do this after letting your girls have free reign? Did they fly over the fence or did they just deal with it? Looking forward to taking my yard back and not stepping in chicken poo anymore!

Mine all have one wing clipped and stay where they belong. If they really wanted to they could go over the fence, but dont with the open space they have available.

Where are you in FL? We are in Clermont area.

Any chain you might want to sell a Welsummer or two after they hatch?

Very close! I don't have a bator and have no idea how to do it. I ordered three from ideal, but the feedstore that my order came to mixed up the chicks before I got there. The owner swore she knew which ones were mine, but I now know I got two EE and the third is probably an EE as well...at least the fourth is a cuckoo marans! Please let me know when they hatch! Thanks!
