I live in a subdivision with an HOA. The bylaws state, "no person may keep, breed, board or raise any animal, livestock, reptile, or poultry of any kind for breeding or other commercial purpose on any lot..." I decided to get chickens because I knew I would not be breeding them nor using them for commercial purposes. They are my pets just like my dogs. I talked to a couple of my neighbors and they seemed to be fine with it. Got home today and there's a note from the HOA quoting the bylaws and stating they were informed we have chickens and we are in violation. They stated poultry was not allowed. However that's not what the bylaws say. Has anyone encountered something like this and can offer advice?
