Hey everyone, I just wanted to see what you thought of this idea I had. I have a large (40x60) garden, and the weeds kicked my butt last year. Mainly, because it was the first year i had it. I was thinking that this year I would get about 2-3 chickens this spring and make a portable run/tractor that could fit in between the rows in my garden. I'd run the pen up and down the rows and let them eat the weeds/grass and scratch the dirt up. I searched the Internet but couldn't find much information on this. Let me know what you think, or if you've done it, let me know how it turned out.

They may not do much for the thick weeds/grass, but they will sure eat up all the bugs!
And if they can reach the nice tender leaves of your veggies, they'll gobble them up, too!

i did this last year with 4 hens. they did well with the short weeds but not taller ones. they did greatly reduce my bug problems and at the end of season they stripped my beds in about 2 weeks.
