Two items from today's Raleigh News and Observer.

    First, on the editorial page:

Sporting bumper stickers such as "My Pet Makes Me Breakfast," a plucky band of amateur chicken raisers is pushing into backyards nationwide and around the Triangle -- and pushing against some of the common boundaries for current-day urban and suburban living. Will hens be laying eggs in a subdivision near you?

Whichever came first, chickens and eggs could be labeled a zoning violation in Garner

    Kinea White Epps, Staff Writer
GARNER - Passing through a neighborhood on Clearview Street, Mark Kleinfelter wasn't expecting to see chickens roaming about the yard.

"I just thought this couldn't be real," said Kleinfelter, who is an equipment service technician for the federal government. "To me it's a public health-care issue."

Pfft... public health issue! Not if you don't keep them in cages with one square foot per bird! Your cat and it's litter box is a worse public health issue. So are exotics, avian flu doesn't spread by dead birds.

If the best source they could get for their article is some idiot, they don't have much of a dirty bird case...besides, what's he doing driving through a neighborhood and complaining about an issue that isn't even his to complain about?! If the neighbors are fine with the chickens, so what?!

So, just out of curiosity, who knows of someone who died or was maimed by way of your chickens?! [IMG] We need to train our chickens to peck Mark! [IMG]
