chickens laying eggs

dear everyone my chicken just layed its first egg yestaday it has still not layed and it is 5.00 and my chickens have still now layed and they have not been scared or anything and yestaday they layed at 4.30 so what do i do now and if you put a shop egg in the roosting box will they lay where that is?

When hens first start laying, their laying schedule may be quite irregular. Many people use 'nest eggs' to encourage their hens to lay in the nest boxes.

When a hen lays her first egg, it doesn't mean her system is ready to start churning out an egg a day. It's a process that takes a while to build up to....they lay for a day or two, take a break for a few days, lay again, take a break again....laying can be very sporadic for the first few weeks or months. Just accept her laying will be irregular for a while, soon enough she'll settle in and be more consistent.
