So all several of my crazy hens have decided to go through their first molt in January/February it really hasn’t gotten that cold yet this winter. But they are forecasting a drop into the low teens next week. Do I need to add heat and do I need to worry about it being to hot for ones who aren’t molting? They are in a large well ventilated coop. 15 chickens in 16x14x16 coop.

Would love to see coop.

So they are 11 months old?
Partial(just around neck and maybe tail) or full molt?
Definitely full molt. I have one that’s almost finished that was about 3 weeks ahead of the others. The rest started about a week ago and are currently dropping neck and feathers and the ones from under they’re wings.

I have a small compost bin next to it and 5 gallon buckets to collect water run off in the first 2 photos.

Is it working now?

My baldy did fine when the temps dropped to 18 degrees. I left the windows open only a crack and made sure she had a full crop when she roosted at night.
