Chickens on the move ... 500 kms

Hi all.

I have 21 chicks, 8 of which are for my father, who will be making the trip at 6 weeks of age.

Do you think they will make the trip without dying of stress. Any tips on how to make the trip the best it can be for my stress level and theirs?

I'll be sure to have plenty of food and water for them but they will probably be in a crate of some sort in the back of our truck with a tonneau cover.

There are travel crates designed especially for transporting chickens. I would get some of those due to the trip length.

Watch the temperatures back there. If the sun is out and beating down on that cover make sure it doesn't get too warm for them.
