Chickens!

Hello everyone, these chickens adopted us... not sure where they came from but they've been here for almost a month and we've been feeding them and well, they never left. I think both of them are roosters but I'm pretty sure at least one of them are because it crows in the morning/evening (the one on the right, I believe)... see, I'm quite new to chickens but have always wanted to raise chickens and have a small farm of my own and so here we are... and can anyone tell me about how old they are and what breed? I was thinking Rhode Island Red but not sure. Thanks!!

Yup, RIR cockerels, for both.

You are right! RIR cockerels. Someone probably dumped them.

Just based on their coloring, they could possibly be (hatchery) New Hampshires, too. Production red breeds can look pretty similar. I've had both breeds and the only real difference was that the NH were slightly more "orange-y" than the RIR.

RIRs are a rich mahagony. These are hatchery RIRs.

Heritage RIRs are much darker, but hatchery RIR and NH can look very similar.

@TexasGirl97, the last photo shows much more of a brown shade, so I do agree that they look like RIRs. Best wishes.
