Chicks and ducklings sitting on top of brooder?

my chicks and ducklings are sitting on top of brooder heat source... not under it. They’re only 2 weeks old. They’re in the house though and it’s warm... is it just a fun place to hang out or do I need to change the set up?

They seem to be trying to get more heat, what temp do you have it at and how big is the brooder ?

Ducklings and Goslings do not take heat well, so be sure not to overheat them. They like a temperature of 90-92 degrees for the first 3 days, then 85-90 degrees for days 4 to 7. Thereafter, drop the temperature by approximately 5 degrees per week until they are fully feathered.

2 weeks old and the temp should be 80 degrees

I never set a temp when raising Ducklings..Ducklings don't need or like as much heat as Chicks. Just leave them as they are..

You don't set the heat on an Ecoglow or Premier Supplies brooding plate. They go under the plate when they need heat. Your chicks and ducklings just think it's a neat place to hang out. There is nothing to worry about.

Huh? It’s a set temperature. You move the plate up and down... there’s nobody under it just on top so I doubt they need more heat...
