Chicks and Quail together?

Discussion in 'Incubating & Hatching Eggs' started by DaveMorehouse, Jun 22, 2017.

  1. Hi folks.

Is it possible - and practical - to incubate quail and chickens together? I was hoping to start the chickens 6 days prior to adding the quail eggs. Then they would both go into lockdown at the same time and hatch about the same time also. This way I would have both sets in their brooders at the same time and not have that fuss twice.

Thanks for any and all thoughts,
    Dave

I've heard of chickens bullying quail when they get bigger, but i haven't actually done this myself, so I'm not too sure.

  3. Yes, I understand bullying would be a problem and perhaps disease too. Once hatched I would move them into separate brooders. Thanks for your input. ;)

well if you staggered the hatch right, i imagine incubating them together would work.
