chicks colours

Anyone know why same breeds would come out as different colours. We have 3 yellow chicks and 2 black ones. I have to confess before they hatched I had no idea they even came in other colours than yellow!

Well, there are about 400 recognized breeds of chickens -about 100 or so of those are regularly carried by hatcheries and backyard keepers. And every breed is a little different! Variety is the spice of life, they say!
