Chicks coming the same time chicks would hatch...can I?

ok, my white EE, Lucy, just went broody today. Coincidentally, I just ordered 5 white silkie chicks...and they will arrive in 22 days.

So, should I just put them under Lucy when they arrive and let her brood them? Can I give her a couple eggs to hatch herself, and then add these new 3 day old ones when they arrive? Or should I give her golf balls and just switch them out when they arrive?

If I can do this, it would be great timing....no?

i think it would work if you hatch some chicks under then add the new ones you ordered. chickens aren't good at counting, i don't think mama hen would notice

I have done that before. I let her hatch out her own then added a couple chicks a day after hers hatched. The hen never knew the difference. Worked out great!!
