Chicks first venture outside (with pics)

    Today my little ones took their first trip outside the brooder. I put a temporary fence up around one of my raised vegetable beds that is winding down for the summer. After the initial shock and huddle, the chicks investigated and appeared to have a romping good time. Here they are:

    Fig says, "Mom are you still there?"

    Buttercup wants to try a bit of Easter Egger fluff...

    The grass is always greener...

    Swiss chard with a side of aphids...

    Investigating is a group

    Piccadilly, the Easter Egger, and Bug, the Splash Polish, looking very dignified in this new land

    Bea, the Buff-Laced Polish, is just fine and dandy

    Piccadilly voices her approval of the flock's first expedition
