We kept 4. They are very cute but, we realized 8 was just to many. It didn't seem like any of them had the penciling. That is fine with me though

So you decided to hatch some more? Have you found them a home. If I can get my hubby to help me I will take some pics and send them to you. We still have the little chick from the pink egg and 3 from the blues. I think they have all been named already. LOL!!! My kids are quick to pick names. The one from the pink egg has been named Chip since we got it. My daughter decided it looked like a chipmunk and so had to be named Chip. So since they have a different coloration should I be able to tell boys from girls soon.

Good luck,

My pure silver pencil rocks don't get penciling until 6 months or so. They start out sort of a mottled strange barred. There's no telling what the mix will do in terms of color. especially the dorkings BUT they will have peacombs since the ameraucanas have peacombs as well.

yes, I'm hatching more. I had a pure ameraucana rooster in the mix that I sold and I want his blood so I have to hatch all of the blue eggs that may have been fertilized by him. i'm getting a few pure ameraucana that I'm keeping to get my ameraucana hen numbers up. Limpy, the roo we kept was in the house at the time recovering (hence the name limpy) so I know they aren't his. Not the way you want to do it... but since the coop wasn't done then I had no choice. I am getting pure of both sppr and ameraucana eggs now - finally.

Anyway, the hens should lay a very pretty egg regardless of the mix.

Well good. I am glad to hear you are getting some Wheaton Ameraucanas now. I know how much you wanted them. So why did you get rid of your rooster. The one that came out of the pea comb doesn't have a pea comb. It has the same kind of comb as my Orpingtons. I wonder what kind it is. Well I guess we will just have to wait and see on the penciling.
