We’re getting our chicks on Friday and my daughter wants to bring them to school and the teacher has approved. A few questions:

1. How old should the chicks be before I bring them to school?
2. Can they be away from the heat for 90 minutes?
3. If I have to transport them with the heat, do I bring the whole brooder? If they don’t need heat, what can I bring them in? A box?
4. Aside from lots of hand washing and going over gentle handling rules, etc. is there anything else I should be sure to tell the kids?
5. Is there anything else I should be sure to have for the 90 mins they’re potentially out of the brooder?

Sorry to sound silly, but I want the chicks to still be young enough to be easy to handle, but not too young to get sick.

What are your daytime temps? I wouldnt do it at all but that's just me. They can't regulate their body temps without feathers and they don't like being handled while feathers are coming in because it hurts so I just see it being very stressful for the chicks.
