    Hi,
We adopted 3 chicks from our first graders class project. Any ideas on their breed or gender?

I have no idea on breed but those are really interesting looking birds. I'd love to see them fully grown. Good luck identifying them. [IMG]

    WELCOME TO THE BYC ARGYLE!!!

The possible crested breeds, since your chicks show some cresting, are Houdans (5 toes, bearded), Crevecoeurs (bearded, 4 toes & black shanks), Sultans (5 toes, feathered shanks, V comb) and Polish (bearded or non, 4 toes, clean shanks).

Looking at the first chick, I am going to say it's a polish cross, because shank color and feather color is incorrect for a pure buff polish. The second chick I can't see shanks/feet on but I would say a gold laced polish cross. But crossed with what, though, the world may never know. [IMG]

Both look like polish crosses. And I agree that the first has odd colored legs... and also has faint barring!

    There Crosses..
I would say a cross with a Polish. The first one has a Single Comb and what looks to be Green-ish leg. A Polish would have a V - Comb with Blue legs.

    Hi again,
I found out from the teacher that they are an Araucana mix. It will be very interesting to see how the crests turn out.
