I have (4) barred rocks that we believe were hatched on 10/31/11 and so they are now 5 weeks old. They are doing nicely now with most of their feathers and living in a brooder in a heated basement(68degrees).

We live in Connecticut and would like to move them outside next weekend 12/7. The current nightly temps here drop into the low 30s/upper 20s for this time of year. I will have them in a 4x6 foot lightly insulated chicken tractor that i am building

can safely move them outide ? I would prefer that they become acclimated to the cooler New England temps and not have to rely on supplemental heat in the coop

IMO...I would try and get them a little more acclimated unless you plan to supply them with some heat in the coop and gradually lower it. I would probably move them into a garage or someplace where you can get the temp a little lower without such an extreme shock. 68 to 20 seems like quite a drop...
