Chicks under the brooder? help? :)

Aloha everyone!

Is it true that chicks grow faster in a brooder than with a momma hen?

Someone said that its just the light that makes them think its morning all day.

Is this the same concept for artificial lighting in the coop when days get shorter?

In a brooder there is usually constant feed... I don't think light has anything to do with it.

I try to put chicks and mama in a brooder together.
