Thanks for the welcome. I am researching before jumping into owning chickens in Adelphi Maryland. I own more than a half acre. I am learning from you all.

Hello there, and welcome to Backyard Chickens! How close are you to Dayton, MD? I've got friends up there. If you would ever like to connect with folks from your area, you can find your state thread in this link:--http://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you. Also, if you are new to chickens and just starting to learn about them, I think you might like to check out the Learning Center! You can find it here:-http://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. If you ever need ideas and/or designs for building a coop, there are hundreds of coop designs in our coop section, so check it out!https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops. I hope you enjoy BYC as much as I have!

Hello and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. I hope that you enjoy your research. Thorough planning sure makes for an easier learning curve, once your chickens arrive! You have some great links, and the coops forum will keep you busy for hours! If I can offer one little bit of advice, make your coop bigger than the number of chickens you originally intend to keep, cos chicken maths gets to us all in the end!

Best wishes
CT
