Thanks for posting the new report link. Your post is relevant and helpful to the many of us that have an interest in this developing problem.

Ignore rude people who would have you post only what they want to hear.

One of my college professors used to say "There is a healthy amount of disease in every population"

Without a disease there is no resistance to the disease.

Well, while ChickenFortress was a bit harsh, he did speak some truth.

Since I don't know the OP's intent when they posted this I don't know
if it's a "be afraid" post or "I think you all should know this" post.

It is important as chicken owners that we educate ourselves about this and
other similiar topics, not because we are in danger but because we have
to be able to intellegently debate the idiots who think that chickens are
some huge vector of disease, something we know thay are not.

So China has admitted 2 cases. Hmmm, that probably means 2000 cases
have actually been found and 20,000 cases have gone unreported.

Quote:I'm all for our population being resistant to diseases. Would you and the good professor volunteer to infect yourselves with the H5N1 virus to help our North American population develop the resistance?

On the other hand, probably a bad idea.... [IMG]

That is very sad. However unless your birds are infected you don't have to worry [IMG] Don't worry!

According to report, it has killed more than 200 people since 2003. 200+ out of 700 billion.

Pretty good odds we will survive. I'll choose to not keep it in top of mind awareness, but thanks for the update.

It kind of reminds me of an episode of South Park...

"Stanley, listen to me . I have SARS. There's only a 98% percent chance that I will live!"
