All along the fence line (where the chicken coop backs up to), there are chinaberry trees growing. MIL told me that they are toxic so I checked to see if they were listed as toxic to chickens. Of course, they are! The little seeds/berries are everywhere back there - I'm sure there are some in the run. Has anyone had any experiences with their chickens getting sick from these? I'm hoping that maybe these are one of the things that they will avoid b/c they instinctively know they are toxic?

You know, I've heard that black cherries (the wild, native type) are poisonous to them too, but I found out that a couple cherry trees are right near the coops. Not only that, I've seen the seeds in the gizzards of chickens I've butchered, so I kinda don't know what to believe....

How long have you had chickens? Have they already eaten some of the berries?
