Chinese Female Swelling on Head

Hi All,

Recently there was a post from someone experienceing a swelling on the head of the female chinese painted. Could someone send me a link to that post please; I cannot find it using search.

Recently I have noticed this on my female too but she seems jolly and merry. In fact, she has just hatched a brood of six and now she is laying again. She eats and drinks regularly too. My hen is bald from the male's attention. Could it be that this is some kind of ingrown infection or something of the kind?

sounds like she boinked upwards and hit her head. the dangers of flighty little birds. just be sure the male is not pecking and opening up the wound or you might need to separate them for a few weeks to let the hen heal. where are her 6 chicks? are they grown and gone?

I always remove the chicks cos I cannot manage to keep them in the cage.

The male is very good. Although the head is swollen there isn't an open wound so yes it could be a bump. I know there was a thread on the subject not long ago but I cannot find it
