I just noticed that one of my hens has what appears to be the end of her beak chipped off. I can see something dark colored underneath it. Will it grow back out? She doesn't seem in pain and she is eating and drinking. I was just surprised to see it chipped back so much.

Also i did search for this topic but couldn't find it anywhere.

    Thanks for any info...

That's wierd... [IMG] [IMG] Well, if she is eating and all, I don't think there should be a problem.

When she was very small, maybe two weeks, one of my hens had the flaring part of one nostril pecked. It had a small, superficial chip in it, but it did grow back. You can't even see the spot now. I guess it works like fingernails. Since it's so deep, maybe it will leave a pucker. [IMG]

Quote:She seems to be doing just fine. As far as i know it didn't bleed. I have not seen any blood around my coop or run.

good!..so maybe she didnt break it as far as the blood supply then.?..when max cracked his..we had to call a vet..he had to talk us through it, to get the bleeding to stop..and i know it must of hurt like heck..cause he let us hold him..and press his beak and everything..normally he'd be trying to nip at us!...[IMG]...so..good luck!...wonder if she could of fallen off something?..thats what happend to my parrot...she sounds like she should be okay though...[IMG], Wendy
