I am getting some Chiquita hatching eggs from a friend tomorrow. I don’t really know anything about that “breed” but I never turn down anything free and I was going to fire up the incubator anyway. :D Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with these chickens? Are they a “real” breed or more of a “designer” breed (aka a cross)? My friend said they are a cross of Silkies and Isbars and that she got her Chiquita’s from another friend who bought the eggs online.

Right, but if done enough generations back and the cross breeds true, then it’s a “real” breed, right? I just can’t seem to find any information on them (which might be saying that they are really just a cute cross, even if done over several generations).
