What exactly are chocolate wafers? I am looking at recipes for holiday dinners and of course I look at the delicious cheesecakes and found one that called for chocolate wafers for the crust. But, I'm not sure what type of "wafer" I'm supposed to use. Graham crackers, oreos, some other cookie I know not of, so I came here hoping for some help. Thanks in advance.

I wonder if you were looking at a recipe designed by an Australian. Wafers are common there but now that you mention it, since I moved to the US, I don't recall seeing them very often. They are a very thin cookie, completely unlike oreos, grahams etc. However if they aren't available, grahams always make a good cheesecake crust, IMHO.

We do have wafer cookies here, but I just don't see them being used in a recipe. Usually they come in a pack with vanilla, strawberry and chocolate flavors with cream in the center. I think I will either use Oreos or graham crackers. Thanks for your input!
