Choosy birds eat only the "best" parts!

  1. Yesterday, I discovered that some apples my girls had picked from our apple tree had gone bad. Not surprising, since we don't spray and many had worm holes. Not being one to like my food squishy or full of maggots, I chucked them into the compost bin.

I went up tonight with bits of things that chickens won't eat (zucchini tops, Onion roots, etc.). I found that the birds had been in the been. Every single apple had been pecked clean of what they considered the "best" parts. Not a maggot to be seen! No smooshy rotten apple! They left anything I might have considered fit for consumption.

Just goes to show me. [IMG]
