Hey. My favorite hen p.henny had injured her home so we put a sock around her foot to prevent her from scratching it open again, however the sock allowed a fishing line to get wrapped tightly around her leg for at least 2 days from my guess possibly 3. The tissue is very swollen and has turned darker in color she limps when she walks but still seems to be trying to use it is there anything I can do to if not save her foot then at least save her life. She's the star of my flock and house hen or not I want to help my baby

Oh no. It looks pretty dark, and it could be possible to lose a couple of toes or perhaps the foot. Time will tell in the next few weeks if some parts of the foot are still alive. I would continue to soak the foot in warm water daily, and Epsom salts can be good. She can get along with losing the toes. I hope that she doesn’t lose the whole foot, though. If she does lose the toes or the foot, they will fall off on their own, just as frostbite causes. Many chickens get frostbitten toes in very cold climates. The toes can get leathery and shriveled before they fall off.

Thank you so much. Is there anything I can do to ensure that she's comfortable before nature takes his course. I don't want her to be in pain or become a target for the other chickens.
