Claret bib?

I've been perusing Storey's guide as of late, and have come across a few references to claret bibs.

"...undersized claret bib on the chest in males are highly objectionable."

I can't seem to find any mention of what a claret bib is however.
Just wondering if anyone could fill me in.

It is the reddish chest that you find on "wild type" colored males such as mallards, rouens, harlequins, trouts, etc.

I just couldn't find any definition for it and when I googled "claret bib" I got some wine colored bibs.. not exactly what I was looking for!
