So one of my broody hens did not poop outside of the nest box the entire time she was sitting on the eggs. She just backed up a little and let loose. Now her whole back end is a gross mess. Any advice on the best way to go about cleaning her up? She has some chicks under there and I don't exactly feel like it is a sanitary place to be right now! I figured I could probably muddle my way through it, but if there is a way to get the unpleasant task done as quickly and painlessly as possible, I'd appreciate the advice. [IMG]

I've had to clean poo off of my girls in the winter for whatever reason they got themselves in a mess. I'd put the chicks under a heat lamp for a bit and give mama a bath. Wear gloves so you don't get pecked to pieces. Dry her off well, maybe with a blow dryer and redo the bedding for the chickies.
