I have an Australorp that constantly is out of the fence.
I got my chickens and roo from a farm that let them totally free range but I have a smaller property and our neighbors dog is out sometimes so I can't do that. My coop and small run is good for them during the daytime but when I get home around 4 the kids and I let them out into a bigger "play area" until the sun goes down. It is about 15x15 but my fence is only 4 ft tall so she hops right over it! I didn't want her to go anywhere so we watched the tutorial and I clipped the feathers on one wing. Well, didn't matter one bit.. she still flaps up to the fence, perches for a second then hops down and outside the fence! She never goes anywhere, stays right around the fence searching for bugs and all so I guess I'm not as worried anymore.

Good luck to you!

You can clip any birds wings that you don't want to fly. Clipping the flight feathers only prevents them from flying long distances, just remember to clip one side only.
