Close to eggs ?

Hens hatched 3rd week last May. He is about one week older, no blood relation. Yesterday I saw him attempting mounting, and the hen seemed to be reciptive. How soon can I expect to see egg production start?

The mating ritual is not just about sex and eggs. It’s also about dominance. A couple of years back I saw a 13 week old pullet willingly submit to a cockerel. She was accepting his dominance. She did not start to lay for another couple of months.

In spite of me saying that, her willingly submitting to him is a good sign. With her age and with that behavior I think you can expect to see an egg pretty soon, probably within a week. But I can’t give you any guarantees.
