I have two roosters I call the bachelor boys; they free-range while the third roo lives in the coop/run with seven hens. This morning I heard one of the boys crow and he sounded like he had his head in a bucket, so I walked over to him to see what was going on. Turns out he crows with his beak closed. This guy is number three in the rooster pecking order so I guess maybe it's his way of crowing but not being too "uppity" about it!
