I bought my first chicks 5 weeks ago, one of them is a Cochin. I was totally clueless (still am I guess) and was told that she is a "Giant Cochin".
Now I'm wondering...did they just mean a standard instead of a bantam. Or is there such a bird as a Giant Cochin? [IMG]

I think the "Giant" is just the standard size. But some of them really are "Giants" - usually gentle giants. Some of the Show Quality ones are probaly even larger than the hatchery birds. I have 3 Giant blacks- 1 rooster- 2 hens. I really like em!!

For some breeds, such as the Cochin, there are Bantams, Large Fowl(Standards), and Giants. They don't call them Giants for nothing.

Well she dosn't seem to be that much bigger than the other breeds that are her same age. Mostly it's feathers. So I'm thinking she's just a standard.
