Well, I'm finally making my meatie order and I'm going to order some hopefully future broodies so I can hatch out my own replacement layers (I want to see the process outside of an incubator).

Anyway, Cochin vs. Silkie. What do the BYCers think? I like the idea of large cochins for brooding the chooks, but I know silkies are nearly 100% of the time broody. Any thoughts/Experiences?

Edit: Also, Cochins can come sexed which is a big plus. So if I did go with Cochins how many pullets should I get to make sure I get 2 or 3 broody hens?

One more quick question: Do colors matter? Are certain colors better than others?
