is it possible for a Cochin chick to not have feather feet???
A friend of mine gave me a chick once and said it was a Cochin but it doesnt have feathered feet... I'm also curious if this is possible or if maybe it isn't a Cochin. :/
No, sorry. If it doesn't have feathered feet, it isn't a Cochin. Heavily feathered legs and feet are a pretty major part of their breed standard.
I purchased Cochin hatching eggs, I got to see the separted breeding pens, and the chick came out of the same color egg as two others so I am just a little perplexed. I know with Feather footed marans 5% are born without feathers I just wondered if it be possible for that in this case.
It was a cuckoo maran, just happens the eggs was so light it was mixed in with the Cochins... Mystery solved!
