Cochin with Bloody poop?

Discussion in 'Emergencies / Diseases / Injuries and Cures' started by chloezoebob101, Apr 5, 2012.

  1. This morning, when i went out to check on our cochin, who is currently in ICU, I saw blood on the deck. We think it is from her poop. [IMG][IMG]
Is this her poop? did she just cut herself? How can I fix this?? I am really worried, she is my baby!!

  2. Oh and She also has feathers plucked out all over the floor.

I don't think that's poop I think it would be more watery.

Can you catch her and look around her to see if there's any visible cuts? Maybe she pulled a toenail, or got in a fight with another hen and got a couple feathers yanked out.

Sounds like she got beat up. Overcrowding could be a cause. Also, she couldve been in the wrong roosting spot and a senior hen beat her up, a pecking order issue. Not much you can do about that.

  5. She is not overcrowded, she is actually in ICU bc the rooster can breed her easily bc she is mostly lame. (A raccoon hurt her leg last year) and so her head got bloody. The others pecked on her head, then we separated her. But we found a cut on her leg. She is good now :)
