Our beautiful white cockatiel - "Cosmo", is eating his poo off the cage wire. He's fed the best pellets and seeds we can buy in this area. Is this a problem, or normal behavior? Thanks for your input.

I have a tiel that does the same thing, I've been told this is normal, and many birds do this from time to time. The only things i can really suggest are first of all start scraping the feces off of the bars daily. And make sure he/she has a cuttle bone available at alll time it is just as much of a chewing toy as it is a calcium suplament.

    I hope this helps

Quote:Funny you should mention the cuttlebone - I just had a conversation with a friend about cuttlefish this morning, which reminded me that I needed to get a couple cuttlebones for the birds! Weird.

He is probably bored. Try getting some new toys and rotating them out every couple of weeks.
