Hey there,
I've got a sick Speckled Maran Cockerel who is just over 4 years old. I found him collapsed in the garden today and after picking him up noticed his severe weight loss. This evening he is very puffed up, and has extremely swollen wattles (More so at the bottom). There is some clear discharge coming from his nose also. I've isolated him and noticed that his poops are very green.
He has been eating fine, even today, and all my birds were wormed about 8 weeks ago. Very concerned that it may be a virus or similar and may be contagious as he has been around my other birds including guinea fowl and peafowl. I fear that it is probably too late for him as his weight loss is so severe, so will do all I can and keep him warm and comfortable.
Any thoughts on peoples similar experiences on what it could be would be very appreciated.
