Hi guys today I saw my cockerel trying to mate my duck , I rushed to him to stop him.
He started crowing since two days. I don't have hens Is this the time to bring some. He is going to be 4 months old after one week.
Will the hens lay eggs ?

Yes, hens lay eggs - that's why many keep them. [IMG]

Also horny young cockerels will try to mate anything.

Hens lay eggs no rooster needed. Rooster needed if you want eggs to hatch.

A hen will lay eggs without a rooster present. You just need to rooster if you want to make babies. Your rooster will not hurt your duck, but he will continue mating anything he can. It might be a good idea to get him some mature hens. A male duck mating hens, can injure the hens, as male ducks have "parts". Chickens are not meant for mating with "parts".
