I got two chicks from a local farm type store 7 weeks ago. Being a dummy I just grabbed two. Well. I know that larger black one is a cockerel. No doubt. But I was hoping maybe the polish was a pullet. Now I think it’s also a roo. I’ve asked several times but thought I’d try again. They’re young still. The bigger one is mean. He gets me anytime I reach in the kennel. But the polish is very skiddish and submissive to the other chicken.

How old? The polish looks pullet currently. They don't need extra heat anymore since they are fully feathered. Polish in general are skiddish odd birds.

How can you tell. I believe you. But I’ve heard so many different things. I feel like he is as well. But others say no. It’s hard.
I suppose it could be a pullet with the front of the crest not quite grown in.

First thought I had was rooster, but upon closer inspection and considering how young it is I see in picture 4 it looks like it's more of a rounded pouf like a female but .. still a little young to be decisive. Sorry for the conflicting answers LOL we all have a lot of time on our hands to obsess over our chickens. They are my source of entertainment during this pandemic. I'm not much of a TV or movie person I'd rather be outside observing my hens! Please let us know when you determine what it is. Mahalo for your posting of your wonderful chickens.

@Kaceyram11 Yes, please post again when you find out if it's a cockerel or pullet. I have one that looks almost identical to yours, but it's only 4 weeks old. Judging by the way mine behaves, I'm leaning towards cockerel because it's already trying to be near the top of the pecking order with my other 5 chicks.
