Hi I am pretty new to this chick thing and am please to say that my broody hen has hatched out 3 of 5 chicks! There are 2 eggs still intact with today being day 21. The only thing is that when I checked the eggs today one of them was cold. I din't know how long it had been like it but am really worried that the chick inside has died from being too cold. I put it back underneath the hen in a hope that it might survive but somehow I don't think it will. She seems far more concerned in keeping the hatched chicks warm rather than the 2 eggs that are left. The other egg is still warm so am still hopeful. Any advice?

is there a way of 'candling' the egg to see what's happening inside?

thanks!

good thing about hens is the will roll a egg out when it gets to hot and cool it down. they can leave it out from under them for 30 to 40 mins. and my hens still have good hatches. i have felt the same thing she might have just rolled it back under her before you checked and it can still hatch.
