Color and sex of australorp

    I was told this is a black but curious if she might be something different. I'm also fairly certain she is a grill (elsa) but was hoping for some confirmation as I'm not allowed to have a roo[​IMG]

    Looks like a barred rock or breed with a similar coloring. It'll be hard to tell sex til 6 or 8 weeks at least.

    Not an Australorp. Looks like a Barred Rock pullet.

    Barred Rock.

    That white spot on the head shows the chick is barred in color (those white bars of color coming in on the wings). An Australorp chick would have a solid dark head and more white underbelly.

    I'm getting a roo-vibe from this bird, sorry. Hope I'm wrong....post again around 6 weeks and we can confirm gender then.

    Thanks everyone. I will post another picture in a couple weeks. I'm really hoping she's a girl and am getting 50 50 on its sex from this site and another! So I guess it's a wait and see kinda thing lol

    I am thinking barred rock roo as well. Hope I am wrong tho. I ended up with 6 out of 7 roos this year and they all looked like this one at that age. Again hope I am wrong!
