color of eggs

    does anyone know what color eggs an Ameraucana Rooster and Bar Rock offspring will produce? (guess we'll eventually find out)[​IMG]

    Nah, I don't have a clue. But I have two EE cockerels and three barred rock ladies, so I guess we are in the same boat! Exciting things to come, no?? [​IMG]

    We thought we had all brown egg chickens, except for the Araucanas.

    Yesterday, we got a white egg! Our buffs were hatched at home, I'm pretty sure, but they really look the part and I don't know of any white egg chickens at that farm. They typically lay early in the afternoon, when we are at work, so it is difficult only on weekends to figure out who does what egg.

    Does a chicken have a pre-programmed egg color? Will a green egg layer always lay green and never blue, for example?
