color of my buff orpington comb?

    one of my buff's is molting and i notice her comb is very dull red the other are bright red. is this normal when they molt?

    Mine were dull when they molted as well. They need lots of protein to produce feathers. I started to give them Salmon and boiled grated up egg along with other feed and it seemed to help some. When they come out of molt, if they are healthy, you will notice the comb turning red before they lay.. Gloria Jean

    It can also mean they need worming...

    Yes, this can happen when they molt. Some more than others. They need more vitamins during the moult and there body can focus a lot of it's engery on producing new feather growth. Increase the protein & add lots of treats. You will probably notice the comb getting a bit brighter when they are ready to start laying again.
