Color Question: Platinum vs. Lavender

    What's the difference between the two? From pics I've seen, they look pretty similar. Any pics for visual comparisons would be appreciated [​IMG]

    They are totally different genetically. This subject and pictures I believe were address on another site The-Coop.

    Platinum Blue is the combination of two dominant gene but in heterozygous form(Only one copy of each gene). Blue(Bl/bl+) being one and Dun(I^D/i+) being the second

    and Opal is believe to be an allele of recessive white or a mutation of it.

    some times you can breed for light blues also which is just Blue(Bl/bl+) with the absence of melanizers
